In the 40-second video, the man claiming to be Han-sol said his father was killed “a few days ago” and that he is now with his mother and sister.

A man claiming to be the son of murdered Kim Jong-Nam has said in a video posted online that he is lying low with his mother and sister after the killing.

The Dutch embassy in Seoul may have been involved in helping bring the family of Kim Jong-nam to safety after he was assassinated, accoding to South Korean news agency Yonhap.

The fate of the body has been among the contentious issues between the two countries, with Malaysia having refused to return the body to the North until it could confirm the identity definitively.

He then holds up what looks like a North Korean diplomatic passport to the camera, but the details are blacked out.

Almost three weeks after Kim Jong Nam’s murder in Kuala Lumpur Airport, his body still lies in the mortuary, unclaimed by a family member; the video is the first comment made by the Kim family since the assassination on February 13.

He appears to be the same young man who appeared in a long interview with former Finish politician Elisabeth Rehn, also available on YouTube (English from 1:35), in 2012.

“We have fulfilled the requirement of the laws on his identification”, Khalid Abu Bakar, inspector general of the Royal Malaysia Police told CNN.

Around seven members of the Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia NGO held a peaceful rally at the North Korean embassy in Kuala Lumpur on Friday under the watchful eye of around a dozen police officers, urging the two countries to fix ties. The group expressed gratitude to the Netherlands, China, the United States and a “fourth government to remain unnamed” for providing assistance in protecting the three.

Malaysia will soon start formal talks with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) about the release of its stranded nationals, Foreign Minister Anifah Aman said Saturday.

“We need some time to decide what to do with the body”.

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) had made a request not to play the March 28 fixture in Pyongyang, under pressure from the Malaysian Government following the political fallout from Kim Jong-nam’s murder.

Both men are still believed to be in Malaysia.

Kim Jong Nam, the estranged half-brother of Kim Jong Un, was killed last month in Kuala Lumpur using a highly toxic chemical weapon, sparking a diplomatic spat between the two countries.
