University of Florida graduate schools rank among the nation’s top programs in a survey released today by U.S. News and World Report.
A number of other UA graduate programs appeared on the U.S. News list, but their rankings were not subject to review in 2017. Economics was ranked 12th and psychology came in 13th.
The Haslam College of Business graduate program is now 29th among public universities, up five spots from past year. “Our graduate students – and especially our doctoral students – help us attract stellar faculty”.
Kyle Cattani, department chairman for IU’s full-time MBA program, said he’s pleased, especially considering that numerous programs ranked above IU are at private schools.
“We are very proud of the fact that UMass Medical School has so successfully maintained fidelity to its founding mission of providing high-quality, affordable medical education that benefits the commonwealth and the nation”, said Chancellor Michael F. Collins.
The report, released Tuesday, ranks the nation’s top graduate schools across six disciplines: business, law, engineering, education, medicine and nursing.
Graduate programs in history (63) and English (77) also were ranked.
For the fifth year in a row, FSU’s school library media program ranked No. 1. U.S. News and World Report also features the material in its Best Graduate Schools 2018 publication, available in bookstores April 11.
The part-time MBA program moved up eight spots to the No. 20 overall program, making it the No. 14 public program in the country.

As a whole, U.S. News ranked the College of Education and Health Professions graduate programs as the No. 50 school of education among public institutions. He credits the program’s job placement – 94 percent were able to find a job within three months of graduation – and average starting salary of $128,600 including bonuses as reasons for the jump. Engineering specialty rankings are based exclusively on peer assessments by department heads in each specialty area. The statistical and peer assessments were conducted in the fall of 2016 and early this year.
Both had double-threat status, as the UNC med school ranked 24th for research and Duke’s ranked 34th for primary-care training. Notably, the number of global students enrolled in graduate programs increased by almost 75 percent from fall 2006 to fall 2016, with an especially sharp rise in the past three years, Holsinger said.

When you compare these data points, it’s hard to choose a clear victor among the top three law schools. The annual “America’s Best Graduate Schools” report began in 1990.
