Juventus to face Barcelona in Champions League Quarter Finals

March 17 13:50 2017

It’s that point of the season where Champions League draws guarantee mouthwatering ties.

Following Friday’s draw for the quarter-finals of this year’s Uefa Champions League, European correspondent Ian Hawkey gives his take on each match-up and picks the winners.

Former champion Barcelona also faces a tricky test, drawn away against Juventus for the first leg. Cast your vote now.

The draw has thrown up a tough tie for Leicester against Atletico Madrid.

“We have to be delighted with the performance and knocking Sevilla out”.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone lauded his side’s determination to keep making their mark on the Champions League after they reached the quarter-finals for a fourth consecutive season.

“We know Madrid well and will be ready”.

On top of that, Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos will return to Bayern, while Bayern midfielder Xabi Alonso will return to Real Madrid, if you see what we mean…

“I saw Monaco’s match against Manchester City and I am aware that they have a goal difference of +58 in the league”.

“2003? It was a fantastic quarter-final, with the goal from Zalayeta”, he told Premium Sport. The feeling is, though, that the club’s improbable run in Europe will come to an end.

Jan Oblak became an Atletico Madrid hero against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League two years ago and the Slovenian made his mark against the German side again with a virtuoso display on Wednesday. The most important thing is to get a decent result from the away leg as we know how hard is to play in the Bernabeu. I think we have the ability to beat Real Madrid.

The timing of Sunday’s game couldn’t be better for Atletico with Sevilla reeling from disappointing setbacks both in the league and the Champions League.

“They won’t be scared of us, they have a good side and they are doing well, it is going to be attractive for the clubs and for football fans”, he concluded. “It will be a passionate, hard and handsome tie”.
