This gives all users with Apple mobile devices access on the go.
If you own an iOS device and want to explore the potential of Alexa, you can head to the App Store and download the Amazon app and get started.
The downside to the new integration is users must install the Amazon app and open it in order to use Alexa. The assistant controls smart home, plays music or Kindle books, answers questions, checks the news and weather, and take advantage of Alexa’s extensions, known as Skills. However, this is quite a risky move, since Apple already uses Siri, which is preferred by most users.
Accessing Alexa using the Amazon Shopping app on iOS will be as simple as tapping the microphone symbol within the in-app search bar. This is why Apple built Siri into a long-press of the home button.
This isn’t the first time that we’re seeing Alexa show up in non-Amazon devices. Though its Echo speakers are Alexa’s most popular conduit, the service is showing up in a growing number of third-party apps and smart devices.
As mentioned in a report from VentureBeat, changes to how Alexa works will still require the actual Alexa app rather than just the Amazon app. For example, if you added items to a shopping list through your Echo, it would appear on the app’s shopping list. Apart from Alexa, Amazon had also tried to introduce a Smartphone, the Fire Phone but the move was not successful.
Thanks to its integrated digital smart assistant, Alexa, it’s capable of letting you search the web and solve tasks using nothing more than your voice. Please note that Alexa integration will be rolled out to the app gradually. Now Amazon is trying to get users on all platforms to embrace Alexa in the same way. The Amazon news post didn’t mention an Android roll out of Alexa capability.
