Oakland city leaders react to Raiders’ planned move to Las Vegas

Fans fear the rumors that National Football League owners will approve the Raiders’ relocation to Las Vegas when they gather for annual meetings in Phoenix and vote on Monday.

“We have two one-year leases, options, for Oakland right now”.

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross cast the lone dissenting vote, and in a statement Monday made his feelings clear on the subject.

“I felt like there were a lot better ways to spend $750 million than bringing the Raiders to Las Vegas”, Foley said on Vegas Hockey Hotline. “I think we are in pretty good shape”, Goodell said.

Ross didn’t feel like Davis and the league had done everything they could to make a stadium deal happen in Oakland. San Diego lost the Chargers to Los Angeles in January and now Oakland is losing the Raiders. He said the 49ers didn’t see any substantial change in revenue from the departure, or return, of the Raiders to Oakland.

“Unfortunately we were unable to do that and the plan that the Raiders now have to be in Nevada and Las Vegas is a very sound plan, one that we’ve looked at very carefully and it meets all of our standards and financial conditions”. The late Al Davis notoriously tried to get all he could out of both Los Angeles and Oakland, between whom he moved and threatened to move repeatedly.

The Raiders had a major resurgence last season and appear built to succeed for the foreseeable future, and as such the fanbase has been reenergized. I think that it could be a tough place for a kid coming out of college, so that locker room has to be strong, because there’s so much there, there’s access to so much.

The Cardinals have played 10 preseason games and five regular season games against the Raiders since 2000, nine of those games total in Oakland.

And with that, the Oakland Raiders are headed to Sin City, ending a years-long dalliance with a potential move to Los Angeles and then Las Vegas because of stadium issues in the Bay Area.

The move of one of the most controversial yet popular franchises in league history will not occur until 2020, when construction of a $1.7 billion domed stadium is expected to be completed.

A letter from Goodell to Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf reaffirmed that likelihood, and now, the Raiders exit from Oakland is a reality. “It’s tough for the people in Oakland to see their team leaving, but maybe they’ll take advantage of the last couple of years that they have and support them while they’re there”. The Raiders are moving to Las Vegas. When they needed something to hang their hat on, it was us who was there.

Will the legendary “Raider Nation” follow the club to Las Vegas? Bank of America, the Raiders’ new chief financial backer, will also contribute funds. As I said, the thriving nature of city and the way that is growing-it is one of the fastest growing Hispanic communities in the country.

Under the city’s plan, a new home for the Raiders would be built on a 55-acre parcel on the southern edge of where their current stadium sits.
