Trump aide urges defeat of Michigan member of Freedom Caucus

Assuring that all Americans have access to health insurance is just one aspect of the complex health care picture.

That information was brought to the attention of the White House Counsel’s Office, which then alerted the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Congressman Devin Nunes, who is leading the investigation into possible surveillance of Trump transition officials.

Fox News host Sean Hannity, a huge supporter of President Donald Trump, strongly challenged the president’s assessment that Freedom Caucus members were the reason the House failed to approval the American Health Care Act last week.

Labrador, one of the founders of the Freedom Caucus, urged Trump in a tweet to “Remember who your real friends are”.

When the Democrats controlled Congress and the White House, Republicans behaved exactly like the Freedom Caucus that so offends Kinzinger now. In fact, I’ve already co-sponsored additional legislation to allow health insurance to be sold across state lines, and to repeal President Obama’s controversial Independent Payment Advisory Board for Medicare, which put Washington bureaucrats between you and your doctor.

But now, because of the Freedom Caucus’ stubbornness, Trump is signaling that he might be happier to work with Democrats than deal with the purity caucus – an alliance that certainly would not lead to conservative policies. “Because this is something we all said we would do”, House Speaker Paul Ryan said. If there is a better, more efficient way to accomplish this than through Obamacare, whose complexity has frustrated the business community, let’s discuss it.

Passing a budget for next year could also prove challenging.

“The GOP (Republican) House is riven by factions that are quite ideological”.

Historian Richard E. Neustadt, in “Presidential Power: the Politics of Leadership” writes: “When contemplating General Eisenhower winning the Presidential election, Truman said, ‘He’ll sit here, and he’ll say, ‘Do this!” He did not need Democratic support.

“Add all this up”.

I’m not betting on any of this right now, but as the failure of the GOP’s “repeal and replace” shows, the public is demanding a seat at the table.

The president touched off the Twitter back-and-forth a couple days ago when he called out the congressional Freedom Caucus group for not supporting his health care change initiative.

Because Trump faces unified opposition by Democratic lawmakers, he can not afford to lose many Republicans as he tries to get his legislative agenda through Congress, including health care, tax cuts and infrastructure spending. “Good things will happen, however, either with Republicans or Dems”. Caucus members have tried to reach out to the moderate Tuesday Group hoping to get to a solution, but no meetings have been scheduled. Such initiatives should be national best practices; Trump could build on them and win. “The objective was to really knock it out of the park in the first two months, fulfill a campaign promise, say that Obamacare had been repealed and the replace effort was underway, first phase of three”.

Senator Cory Gardner, a Republican who served in the House from 2011 to 2014, said his former colleagues needed to quit arguing and come to a consensus “sooner rather than later”. Ryan’s comment drew sharp criticism Republican Sen.

“When he came out against this bill, I thought, ‘I trust him so this must be the right way, ‘” the 76-year-old retired teacher said of Massie this week as she sat at a coffee shop near her LaGrange home.

Ryan talked them out of demanding the vote, saying it would endanger members of their own party. Hillary Clinton: “I think while someday we may end up with a single-payer system, it’s clear that we’re not going to do it all at once, so I think both candidates’ health care plans are a big step forward”.
