Atlanta Braves set 25-man roster for opening day

If the Mets’ postseason hopes for 2017 rest in the effectiveness and health of their vaunted starting rotation, Noah Syndergaard offered hope for the optimists and concern for the anxious with his dominant six-inning outing in the team’s 6-0 opening day win over the Braves on Monday.

In all, the Braves used four relievers to get 3 outs, all while the best arms in the pen stayed seated.

Syndergaard’s mound opponent, Julio Teheran also turned in a performance, tossing six shutout innings of his own, running his consecutive scoreless innings mark against the Mets to 35. He too has had a rough spring, going 0-1 with a 9.20 ERA across five starts, but hopefully it is just shaking offseason rust.

Mike Moustakas homered for the Royals. Cabrera put up 146 hits, 65 runs, 23 homers and 62 RBI previous year for the Mets, while Cespedes logged 134 hits, 72 runs, 31 homers and 86 RBI.
