They reaffirmed their commitment to a denuclearization of the divided Korean Peninsula. Within Trump’s administration, divisions remain over how to approach China.
After the meeting, Trump and Xi walked around the grounds of his Florida resort and had a working lunch before Xi’s motorcade left the resort on Friday.
Speaking to reporters while traveling to Florida, Trump suggested a link between “terrible” trade agreements the USA has made with China and Pyongyang’s provocations.
Sun said Taiwan should pay attention to company representatives who accompanied Xi in the U.S., as the sectors in which those companies operate might provide opportunities for investment.
A girls’ chorus sang “Astonishing”, from the musical “Little Women”. Instead, it reported that Trump’s grandchildren sang a Chinese folk song and recited classic verses for the leaders earlier Thursday.
“Both the atmosphere and the chemistry between the two leaders was positive, all of us are feeling very good about the results of this summit”, said Mr Tillerson.
“President Trump noted the challenges caused by Chinese government intervention into its economy”, Tillerson said on Friday.
Bilateral trade and the threat from North Korea’s nuclear ambitions dominated the talks on the first day of their first summit that was overshadowed by the American military action in Syria on Thursday night.
Secretary Tillerson said he had not seen hard evidence that Russian Federation knew ahead of time about the chemical weapons attack but he planned to urge Moscow to rethink its support for President Assad in the April 12 talks.
He says their relationship is “outstanding“.
Trump would say he’s simply flexible, an emerging foreign policy doctrine that leaves room for evolution and uncertainty.

He said the United States expects China, the main ally of North Korea, to do more to rein in the regime in Pyongyang.
Back in China, state media posted upbeat photos and video of Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, dining with Trump and his wife, Melania, at Mar-a-Lago. The attack against a Syrian air base was the first US assault against the government of President Bashar Assad.
“I think we have made tremendous progress in our relationship with China”, Trump said.
