Google Earth gets revival with tools for exploration

April 19 06:34 2017

For the past two years, Google has been working on a new version of one of its most popular tools: Google Earth. And just in time for Earth Day, Google is giving it a major upgrade.

Each of the voyages is centered on a theme, such as “Earth View” or “Museums Around the World“. Rebacca added, “It’s a product that speaks to our deepest values around education and making information available to people”. Once you’re there, Google packs in useful information by pulling in sources like Wikipedia so you can learn a bit about the place you land. Google has partnered with third party sources for authenticity and to add interesting elements to their stories. Check back to visit more homes in the coming months. The VR app also has 27 new locations and a new search feature.

The update comes with a new feature called “Voyager“, which is basically Google’s showcase of guided tours. Google has tied up with storytellers, scientists and nonprofits for these tours.

The exploration app, which enables users to explore the planet thanks to satellite imagery captured by the technology giant has introduced several new features, including Voyager, a new series of guided tours of different parts of Earth.

There’s also the new “I’m feeling lucky” feature that’s similar to the one on Google’s main search page.

Google Earth released a huge update today which allows you to see the world in a whole new perspective. Where was that coffee shop we discovered on our last vacation?

The new 3D imagery is definitely insane, but how did Google manage to pull this off?

Google Earth users can also snap a postcard to capture a dream vacation or memory and then send the snap to family and friends.

As anticipated, Google is today taking the wraps off the new Google Earth experience. “They lie to us”.

People can choose to fly around the world in Earth, using a 3-D button to see the Grand Canyon, chateaux of the Loire Valley and other stunning spots from any angles they wish.

Google says that version 4.30.0 of Google Maps for iOS also includes bug fixes. Opening up the new Google Earth you will now see a Ship’s wheel clicking which will take you to a new world of discovery and that act of finding new things around the world.
