Billboard reported that Record Store Day 2016 led to a “record” sales volume in vinyl albums – 383,000 units for week ending April 21. Special vinyl releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day.

Saturday is the world’s 10th annual Record Store Day and celebrates the wonders and glories of independent record stores. He has experienced these effects firsthand, and hopes that an event like Record Store Day will further encourage community members to visit their local record stores.
The resurgence of vinyl nationally has been reflected across the county with record shops springing up, second hand shops giving over growing sections to records and regular record sales being staged. Now it’s a mix. CDs have gone down and Vinyl is coming back in a huge way. After a chain tried to unify a bunch of record stores in the early 2000s and went belly up, Crain bought the store in 2002 and has enjoyed the rising interest in records ever since.

Records are booming with the vinyl revival, and Dave’s Records has benefited. Among those participating with special events in the region are Bay City’s Electric Kitsch, 917 Washington Ave.; Saginaw’s Records & Tapes Galore, 1303 Court St.; and Midland’s Radio Wasteland Records, 718 George St. The store also hosts one of the most packed lineups in the city.
