That didn’t stop Dan Drummond and Melanie Cade from opening such a shop near the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Jim adds, “We will also be giving away cloth record bags to the first 200 people who purchase items that day”.

Billboard reported that Record Store Day 2016 led to a “record” sales volume in vinyl albums – 383,000 units for week ending April 21. Special vinyl releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day.

For the 10th annual Record Store Day on Saturday, why not go to the only true record store left standing in Lincoln Park proper?

“This year, we hope to use RSD to promote the small and independent record stores in the Philippines and tie that in to our advocacy of helping underprivileged children through corporate sponsorships and donations”, said Reggie Halili, one of the administrators of Audio Pilipinas. “It’s a popular thing to be into”.

Saturday is the world’s 10th annual Record Store Day and celebrates the wonders and glories of independent record stores. He has experienced these effects firsthand, and hopes that an event like Record Store Day will further encourage community members to visit their local record stores.

The resurgence of vinyl nationally has been reflected across the county with record shops springing up, second hand shops giving over growing sections to records and regular record sales being staged. Now it’s a mix. CDs have gone down and Vinyl is coming back in a huge way. After a chain tried to unify a bunch of record stores in the early 2000s and went belly up, Crain bought the store in 2002 and has enjoyed the rising interest in records ever since.

“There has been no negative impact from supermarkets selling vinyl”. “The more physically engaged you are, the more connected you are with it”. “I can’t believe how respectful people seem to be”.

Records are booming with the vinyl revival, and Dave’s Records has benefited. Among those participating with special events in the region are Bay City’s Electric Kitsch, 917 Washington Ave.; Saginaw’s Records & Tapes Galore, 1303 Court St.; and Midland’s Radio Wasteland Records, 718 George St. The store also hosts one of the most packed lineups in the city.

Cade: It definitely impacts April, hugely. You can return something if it’s damaged.

“We carry around 2,000 titles in our shop, Sainsbury’s have probably got about 20 most of the time.

Also, we will be displaying turntables, over 2500 types of vinyl both new and old, from where Vinyl enthusiasts can make a choice”. Siegrist recalls Lost Weekend’s third Record Store Day, when one of his employees noticed a group of people camping out on the hillside near his store just before they were about to open. You’re competing for that customer. “Music itself is physical”, Louis said.

“He is expecting high interest in a 7” single from The Beatles, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Penny Lane / Strawberry Fields Forever double A side; and three new releases from David Bowie. We have to carry anything significant. How did that impact you? We’re a bookstore, too, and for a while there, we thought, “Oh my god, the Kindle’s gonna kill us”. “A lot of work has gone into putting an album together in the way it’s presented”. “I think it’s just better”. Has that been the case?

Vinyl is rolling again, as younger people discover it. “I mean, with the first one, we didn’t even really know what they were trying to do; it’s awesome to remember that when this first started, there were like fifteen 7-inches and now there’s like 3,000 releases”. We basically bought ourselves a job.

Ragged Records will be open from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. It closes at 6 p.m.

It's easy to get lost amongst the towering shelves of records at Recordland which is celebrating Record Store Day on April 22
