Apple Inc. has a made a point of custom-ordering several components for the iPhone 8.
The analyst pointed to the upcoming smartphone’s “significant hardware upgrades”, including the OLED screen and depth-sensing front camera and new 3D Touch module, as reasons for the delay.
Another possible scenario that could counter the problem mentioned is if Apple releases the iPhone 8 alongside its next iterative flagship, the iPhone 7S, and iPhone 7S Plus, Kuo predicted. Just last week, Bloomberg reported that the iPhone 8 could be delayed by “one or two months”, and Mac Otakara is also expecting a delayed launch. The design of the iPhone 8 as we already know could end up having a fingerprint sensor in the back as they would not have time to integrate the fingerprint sensor on the front of the screen. Kuo believes that production ramp-up on the OLED iPhone model won’t begin until as late as October-November, two months later than previous ramp-ups in August-September. While the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus are expected to be offered in three storage configurations – 32GB, 128GB and 256GB, the iPhone 8 will only be offered in 64GB and 256GB.
With grains of salt on the side, rumors suggest that the iPhone 8 could sport a 5.8-inch display with 551 pixels per inch (ppi) which is way higher than the current iPhone 7 that has 320.
Elsewhere, the image shows a new dual lens camera which is positioned vertically, as opposed to horizontally as it is on the iPhone 7 Plus. If you remember, previously some rumors pointed towards an iPhone with a rear facing Touch ID. Samsung Galaxy S8 also features fingerprint scanner underneath the display to make room for an edge-to-edge display and that’s mostly what Apple will go for as well for its iPhone 8.
If you’ve been following the latest iPhone 8 rumors, it nearly seems like a lock that Apple will be releasing three new phones this fall. Design wise, the iPhone 8 will likely incorporate an edge to edge OLED display with 4mm bezels surrounding said display.
According to 9To5Mac, a couple of new leaked iPhone 8 pictures have been spotted online.
Apple is expected to compensate for the delay by releasing three iPhones this September as rumored.
