Silfverberg scores 2, Ducks beat Oilers 6-3 in Game 3

The Ducks may want to consider refocusing their attention to another young Oilers standout if they plan to even the series in Game 2 on Friday night at Honda Center.

That Anaheim was able to buckle down for a 6-3 win in Game 3 Sunday was a testament to the veteran mettle that was said to give it the inside track to the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Predators lost Kevin Fiala to an ugly leg injury in the second period and blew a 3-1 lead before Fiddler poked a loose puck by Jake Allen in the third.

They put heavy pressure on Edmonton in the third period on Friday night, and in one short stretch had a shot clank off the crossbar and a puck trickle behind Talbot and come within inches of going in before it was swept away. We’re comfortable in this position, and we understand that they’ve been here before and have played in these games. The Oilers have enjoyed good luck by emerging victorious in each of the previous four playoff series in which they have won the first two games on the road, including the 2006 conference final against Anaheim. It’s the seventh straight home playoff win for the Predators, who now own a two-games-to-one lead in the series. Talbot got credit from both teams for the result in Game 2, making all manner of impressive saves while Anaheim dominated the last 30 minutes.

Tarasenko said he felt his team was too excited to go on the power play and thus overthinking their approach. “I made some big saves early”. The Oilers defenseman got around the Ducks’ Cam Fowler and managed to wrap around a shot that Gibson couldn’t handle and then stop as the puck bounced in off Josh Manson. “We don’t have a ton of it”, McDavid said after Edmonton’s morning skate on Wednesday. “We’re right in the hockey game all night long. Certainly not how we scripted it, but there’s still plenty of life left in this group, and we’re going to make sure that we fight and claw to try and win one in their building”. The task for Game 3?

Edmonton’s first playoff appearance in 11 years is off to a rollicking start, with the Oilers following up their six-game defeat of defending Western Conference champions San Jose by taking two games from the five-time champions of their division.

However, Draisaitl plays in relative obscurity compared to McDavid, the next face of the game. The Ducks have not scored an even strength goal since the third period of Game 1, which is a major concern.

At one point in the second period, the home crowd booed the Ducks for the sluggish play. We just have to play Game 4 the way we know we can. It’s nearly like that San Jose game. “But now I think everyone in this room is so comfortable in these types of situations”. Ryan Getzlaf won a faceoff back to Brandon Montour and the rookie defensemen fired a shot toward Edmonton goalie Cam Talbot.

Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle was matter-of-fact about the loss, his team’s first in the playoffs and its first regulation loss in 19 games dating back to March 10 at St. Louis. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins originally tipped the point shot with a questionably high stick, but the goal was upheld. “And we did things as a unit”. “There’s no way we should allow Larsson to skate from the top of his circle into our zone unimpeded”.

The Ducks had the past week off after sweeping the Flames, but both teams came out with a mid-series physical approach in the scoreless first period.
