NCAA softball tournament 2017 selection show

The fate of the California Golden Bears Softball (30-22) was revealed on Sunday night after the 2017 NCAA Women’s Softball Championship bracket was unveiled. The teams are set to play Friday at 4 p.m. CT on the Longhorn Network.

UA is also the only team to make it to the super regional round in each year since that format was adopted in 2005.

Florida, Arizona, Oregon, and Florida St. are the top four seeds in the tournament. In the 12 total trips to the College World Series, Bears won it all back in 2002 – the first female team national championship in Cal history.

Alabama will host Big Ten champion Minnesota, Albany and Louisiana Tech.

The three-day regional in Tallahassee will be held on May 19-21 and will start with Georgia versus Jacksonville State at 4:30 p.m., followed by Florida State playing Princeton at 7:00 p.m.

If the hosts advance, Auburn would face the victor of No. 10 Oklahoma’s region, which also includes Tulsa, North Dakota State and Arkansas.

“I’m not anxious about where we are seeded because getting in is the most important thing”, Rundles said.

The 64-team field will be selected from 283 NCAA Division I institutions sponsoring the sport of softball.

2015: In the Eugene Regional, the Bison beat Fresno State 4-0, lost to No. 1 OR 4-3, beat Brigham Young 7-0 and lost to OR 6-1.

Oklahoma earned an automatic bid after winning its fifth Big 12 Championship Saturday against Oklahoma State 2-0.

The other Big Team teams preparing for regional play are Wisconsin, Illinois, and MI.

This isn’t the first time every softball team in a conference has reached the NCAA Tournament.

The other nationals seeds are UCLA, Washington, Auburn, and Tennessee, at 5-8, respectively.

The victor of each of the NCAA’s eight regional tournaments will advance to the NCAA Division III College World Series, a double-elimination tournament held at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin, May 26-31.
