Warriors coach Steve Kerr ‘surprised’ Cavs are considered underdogs

We haven’t seen star power in the Finals like this in 30 years, since Larry and Magic and the Celtics and Lakers were battling. He was asked what it means.

We’re talking about three sure-fire future Hall of Famers, with the others making cases for themselves as they go. I’ve already done so much more than anybody ever gave me credit of doing or thought I can do, so there’s no reason to get too high or too low’. I’m taking part in practices, helping with the messaging, taking part in coaching meetings, but I’m not on the sidelines during games.

Key Matchup: Kevin Durant vs. LeBron James. I could make it through.

He doesn’t have to. If he wants to show up during the Finals and beat them again, at the same time, no one is stopping him.

Unsurprisingly, the most expensive ticket for this year’s NBA Finals is for Game 7 in Oakland, assuming such a game needs to be played (as soon as one team wins four games, the series is over).

Durant took heat for leaving behind a solid Oklahoma City squad that pushed the Warriors to the brink of elimination in last year’s Western Conference final, but the move has paid off so far.

And he did not just do it with scoring.

James (68) and Stephen Curry (57) rank first and second, respectively, in NBA Finals history in 3-pointers made.

Whether he coaches or not, Kerr said he plans on flying to Cleveland with Golden State for Games 3 and 4. “LeBron is like Magic and Larry, he can have 15 points and control the game”. He apologizes for the tiresome playoffs and promises that next year will be better.

So good are the Warriors, who have finished with the NBA’s best record in each of the last three seasons and added four-times scoring champion Durant last offseason, that Van Gundy referred to the 2015 National Basketball Association champions as a “dynasty”.

“They’re so talented”, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said.

If one thing’s clear, it’s that fans haven’t been game to pay top dollar for the Warriors’ and Cavaliers’ very un-dramatic playoff series this spring. “But all you can do is play your defense, stick to your principles and just make it as tough as possible”. They execute at the defensive end of the floor. And they’re a much tighter group now.

The driver said, if the Warriors win, he’ll contain his excitement until he drops the Cavs off at the airport. “They’re way, way more than just their talent”. Las Vegas has them as heavy favorites, and their playoff dominance has been incredible to watch; they could be the first team to go undefeated through the postseason if they can someone pull off a sweep. But this is not James’ first underdog rodeo. You know, with Manu, Kawhi, Tony, and Timmy D, on the same team. [Tim Duncan] on the same team. If you add Pop in there, that’s five.

Lue said he is focused on two things: Durant and the championship.

James will push Golden State to the limit.
