Apple’s iOS 11 to take Facebook, Twitter down a notch

iOS 11 is expected to come out later this year.

A specific release date for iOS 11 has not yet been announced. CNET reported that iOS beta is available for developers Monday. Expect it to launch this autumn, maybe even around September.

What’s new in iOS 11? Called as “the most powerful Mac ever, the new product will be available from December starting at $4,999”. Some of these are more cosmetic: along with an adjusted female voice, you’ll be able to change Siri to a male voice. Siri will also be able to translate English to Chinese, French, German, Italian and Spanish in iOS11.

The special keyboard is similar to other one-handed typing features – when enabled, it compresses the keyboard to one side of your screen so that you can better type while you are pre-occupied.

If someone does text you while you’re driving, the phone can respond with an automatic message telling them you’re driving and can’t respond just now. These devices will only keep the most recent messages in local storage.

Also, the app reportedly requires iOS version 11.0 or higher, meaning it relies on functionality current iOS versions lack, further solidifying this theory. You can also now use Apple Pay, with TouchID authentication, so you can quickly send payments via iMessage.

Drivers who use Apple CarPlay are expected to continue to receive notifications from their phone via their car’s infotainment system. Apple doesn’t want you to swap as much. It’s no surprise, but there’s integration with the Apple Music online subscription. Multiroom audio will also work with third-party apps. You can then interact with the item on the display of the iOS device; turning the lamp on and off with a tap, for example.
