Showtime not hopeful Mayweather-McGregor will set PPV record

A deluge of action on McGregor from bettors looking for a big payout has continually squeezed the lines closer and closer since the first rumblings about McGregor, the two-division UFC champion, making a combat sports cross-over to fight the 49-0 Mayweather.

Mayweather, who turned 40 on February 24 and hasn’t fought since September 12, 2015, said he is taking the fight “extremely serious”, though he broke training camp to do the late-night talk show circuit 10 days prior to the fight, something he never did in the past.

The Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor festivities will be aired on Showtime PPV Saturday night, with the undercard portion of the event beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET.

And according to Jones, who has sparred “1000 rounds” with Floyd Mayweather in the 23 years they have known each other, the threat of being completely embarrassed by Conor McGregor on Saturday night has created a focus like he hasn’t seen before.

“A lot of time we come to these press conferences (and) we need to conduct ourselves in an orderly fashion because when it comes down to it, it’s the two fighters”, he said.

There’s clearly no love lost between these two fighters, so this one should be a doozy. I’m truly, truly skilled in many, many forms of fighting. But if I don’t want to get out of bed I won’t get out of bed.

So far, the most expensive ticket sold on StubHub for Saturday’s bout is $24,000, while the priciest ticket for Mayweather ‘s fight against Pacquiao went for $35,000. I’m sure McGregor is going to suffer. “Everyone knows I can fight”, he stated.

“I think he has a big-time gambling problem”, McGregor said. I know he’s going to come out and switch and go back and forth with stances. “It was me that made this fight happen”.
