Millions illegally streamed Mayweather-McGregor fight

The 40-year-old American boxer outclassed McGregor over 10 absorbing rounds at the T-Mobile Arena to defeat Irish mixed martial arts by technical knockout. McGregor said he likely would clear $100 million, and said he had his accountants on speed dial to make sure it was all collected.

McGregor, however, is a different story. “I love a good fight, and tonight was a damn good fight”.

Time will tell if McGregor chooses to enter a boxing ring again.

McGregor surprised many, appearing to control the early proceedings before Mayweather’s pedigree and skill came to the fore and he rocked the Irishman with a series of punishing blows to the head early in the 10th round before the referee stepped in to end the bout.

The press conferences have been equal parts runway and pissing contest, with McGregor being pretty loose with racist nonsense and Mayweather tossing gay slurs and declaring his performance in the name of black people everywhere.

The official number of pay-per-view purchases has not been released, but estimates before the fight indicated that the number could exceed 5 million.

“This is one of the most pirated, if not the most pirated boxing matches we have ever seen”, Mark Mulready, an Irdeto vice president of cyber services, said in a statement Monday.

McGregor was his usual witty and affable self after the bout, but he also paid respect to his opponent.

Boxing commentator Max Kellerman was a huge doubter of McGregor and went as far as to claim that “The Notorious” would not land a single punch on Mayweather during the entire course of their fight. Let the man put me down.

“Instead of being upfront with consumers about its new, untested, underpowered service, defendant caused likelihood of confusion and misunderstanding as to the source and quality of the high definition video consumers would see on fight night”.

He had not fought for nearly two years before McGregor, with his previous outing being the win over Andre Berto which matched Marciano’s 49-0 record.

“He was so composed”, McGregor said. You can’t expect viewers who paid almost $100 for a fight to just sit back and do nothing when their cable or internet provider fails them.

“A win is a win, no matter how you get it”, Mayweather said. It probably doesn’t help that one sportsbook in Las Vegas didn’t think the validity of the fight was all that sound.
