Most experts taking Patriots over Chiefs, to no surprise

September 07 12:18 2017

That was in 2014, when Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was the MVP, but the OPOY award went to then-Dallas Cowboys tailback DeMarco Murray. His recent popularity may be down to his starring role in HBO’s NFL Hard Knocks, and viewers have obviously liked what they’ve seen in the young man. “They’re always tough. We’ve always had great battles with them”, Belichick said.

It sounds like Marshawn Lynch has finally come to terms with the Seahawks‘ decision not to give him the ball at the 1-yard line on Seattle’s final offensive play of Super Bowl XLIX. “We have our own perspective in the building among each other and we have big expectations for this season, but it takes place one game at a time”.

This time Reid had four months to prepare for New England. Quarterback Alex Smith loves the checkdown and Hunt might be able to have a big impact catching passes out of the backfield.

The Chiefs claimed their first AFC West title past year with a 10/12 W/L record last season. They’re not as hot of a buy as the Oakland Raiders. Coming from New Orleans via a trade, Cooks will be a legitimate deep threat for the offense of the Patriots.

The Patriots have won their last eight home openers on kickoff weekend, and Brady is 4-2 against the Chiefs in the regular season, including 3-0 at home. The Bills aren’t that far behind the Jets but do have LeSean McCoy and Jordan Matthews as draft-worthy, but Buffalo seems willing to deal anyone who is not nailed down as the team is trying to collect future draft picks. At the very least, the team should definitely be tanking.

With Seth Keysor, Pete Sweeney, Matt Conner, Nick Jacobs and Matt Verderame, I talked to an absurd number of Chiefs experts over the last two days. He barely played in the preseason, only to be handed the starting job due to the injury to Bryce Petty and absolutely awful performance from Christian Hackenberg.

Brady is surrounded by some risky weapons, among them tight end Rob Gronkowski, finally healthy; receiver Chris Hogan, who led the National Football League last season with an average of 17.9 yards per catch, and newcomer Brandin Cooks, a scorching receiver acquired from the Saints who has the field-stretching speed to get behind a defense. They’re eager to see how it fares against a now 40-year-old Brady and the defending champs.

Now the Chiefs hope to repeat that magic on the NFL’s opening night. Now heading into what promises to be an electric environment in Houston, Bortles is facing a pretty huge Week 1 test. It’s a lot of stress on your team.

We’d be hard-pressed to expect too much from the rookie second-round pick in his first regular season National Football League start. Throw in Danny Amendola and former Bengal Rex Burkhead, and you have plenty of guys who can find holes on short routes.

To start with, I’m just as fascinated by the worst as I am by the best.
