US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrived in Beijing on Saturday to discuss efforts to curb North Korea’s nuclear ambitions and prepare President Donald Trump’s upcoming visit to China.

During a trip to China Saturday, Tillersonsaid that the US had opened a diplomatic channel with North Korea to probe if North Korea is ready to begin diplomatic talks about denuclearization.

“They’re not suicidal”, according to the former USA special envoy for Six-Party Talks with North Korea, Joseph DeTrani, who warned that Pyongyang was playing a risky game, especially as the White House has ruled out any meaningful talks with the North Korean regime.

“We must make North Korea abandon all nuclear and ballistic missile programmes in a complete, verifiable, and irreversible manner”.

While in China, Tillerson had told reporters that he was “probing” whether the North is ready for talks on the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.

Trump’s heated rhetoric, which actually prompted an unprecedented personal response from North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, has been coupled with joint drills with our allies, including live-fire bombing exercises near the Korean border.

Trump’s “bad cop” may have galvanized action by China, the North’s traditional diplomatic protector and main trading partner, which has agreed to tough new United Nations sanctions on its ally’s primary sources of revenue for weapons development. Trump’s threats to annihilate North Korea belong in the same category.

We know what the White House means when it says that talks are not on the agenda.

South Korean officials have voiced concerns that North Korea could conduct more provocative acts near the anniversary of the founding of its communist party on October 10, or possibly when China holds its Communist Party Congress on October 18.

Though Moscow wants to try to improve US-Russia relations in the increasingly slim hope of relief from Western sanctions over Ukraine, it remains strongly opposed to what it sees as Washington’s meddling in other countries’ affairs. “What is needed to do that is not dialogue, but pressure”, he said.

Terrence O’Shaughnessy maintains that United States warplanes will continue to fly near the Korean Peninsula in accordance with global guidelines despite North Korean threats to take down U.S. warplanes.

The CIA official chuckled as he made the comment in reference to the USA military’s Joint Special Operations Command.

Mattis also said he believes Tillerson accurately stated that the U.S. Trump said the only way for North Korea to continue as a nation is too dismantle their nuclear arsenal.

“I think the whole situation’s a bit overheated right now”, Tillerson said. “We can talk, we talk to them”, has hammered the head of american diplomacy.

Still, the USA intelligence community does not believe Kim is likely to give up his weapons program willingly, regardless of sanctions.

The least regular of these may be the direct talks, which Rex Tillerson pointed to just a few days ago, only to be told by his boss that it was a waste of his time. AP also tracked the products made by North Korean workers to Canada, Germany and elsewhere in the European Union.
