More snow showers expected for Joliet, Will County

Snow and ice are coming to Southern states that aren’t so accustomed to seeing such frosty conditions.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) pre-treated highways bridges and highways on Sunday, Pinder said.

Strong Northwest winds will drive the wind chill to near 0 degrees by daybreak on Wednesday.

The Lonoke County crash has been the only major accident, Straessle said, though there were reports of cars sliding off the roadway and into ditches.

More than 10 counties in South Central Texas are expected to see icy and freezing conditions throughout the day.

Most of Rhode Island should receive a healthy dose of snow overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Slick conditions, meanwhile, were reported over a broad swath of Arkansas. “Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches are expected”.

In Little Rock, about an inch of snow was reported.

Late last week seemed nearly like springtime in the Fredericksburg area, but the cold winter weather has returned.

BITTERLY COLD: Snow or not, Wednesday will be a very cold day.

Accumulations of less than an inch of snow are predicted for Tarrant County, but the most amounts of snow are expected in an area from Waco to Corsicana to Canton where 1 to 2 inches could fall, forecasters say.

Temperatures are also expected to stay low.

Yvette Benavides, a meteorologist at the local office of the National Weather Service, said the area will probably see Tuesday’s high temperature early in the morning. The rain will slowly change over to snow during the afternoon hours as the it moves towards the coast.

Snow may initially be light before becoming steadier through the evening.

In Western Maryland, a winter advisory will go into effect at 7 a.m. and will last until 10 p.m.

High temperatures on Tuesday will be in the 40s and then will drop into the 20s by nightfall. Widespread snowfall totals across the advisory area will range from 1″-2″ of snow.

While it will take some time yet to work this latest bout of snow out of the picture, we’re getting our troublesome weather out of the way early this week.
