There’s also a robot kit that turns your controller into a cardboard robot capable of controlling a digital avatar.

Nintendo have always been famous for their playful games, but the announcement of Nintendo Labo has taken that one step further.

Just over an hour ago, Nintendo unveiled the Nintendo Labo, a kit-based DIY cardboard peripheral for the popular Nintendo Switch.

However it looks like Nintendo is pushing those boundaries again by announcing the Nintendo Labo.

Nintendo Labo kits are essentially pre-cut cardboard allowing players to construct various items and use their Switch to power-up and play games with.

Launching in April, the cardboard kits will cost between $70 and $80.

The Nintendo Labo has three main characteristics – make, play, and discover.

The two Nintendo Labs games both launch on April 20, but families in New York City and San Francisco can check the semi-educational paper craft game out early.

Nintendo What kinds of Toy-Con projects are there?

The fishing rod will enable Switch owners to reel in their catch of the day, which will be displayed on screen. The Variety Kit will include two Toy-Con RC Cars, a Toy-Con fishing Rod, a Toy-Con House, a Toy-Con Motorbike, and a Toy-Con Piano. Have fun with the new Nintendo Labo this spring!

Nintendo Labo is a $69.99 cardboard kit that utilizes the Switch’s joy-con controllers to offer a bunch of different interactive experiences on the Switch. The Joy-Cons are used to control the arms and legs of the Robot which strap to a backpack the user wears.

There’s no scissors or glue needed, everything you need to make the sets are included in the box and come flat-pack. Even Mario Kart Wii shipped with a wheel to enhance the steering mechanics; so it feels like Nintendo Labo is in many ways an iteration and a step forward on those previous ideas. The second is the Robot Kit, a wearable suit of cardboard created to look like a robot.
