Hundreds of anxious parents descended on Bayonne High School this morning to sign their children out of school after a threat against “BHS students” circulated on social media.
Officials in a school district in Pennsylvania chose to cancel classes for Friday after an alleged threat was found at a high school. However, the two girls, one in middle school and one in high school, are in counseling, she said.
“Officials will continue to investigate this matter work to determine the origin of the threat and an increased presence of police is planned for the Brainerd High School on Friday, (Feb. 23)”, the release stated. “We learned pretty soon into the investigation it a wasn’t a threat directed at Bremerton High School”.
In an email to parents, DeKalb High School Principal James Horne said the post is a picture of a threat stating “at 2pm no one is safe here” and that it’s been making its way around social media. “We are seeing invalid threats come in, but every threat is going to be investigated as if it were real to make sure that it’s not”, said Officer Jennifer Peach of the Baltimore County Police Department. But Deptford Township isn’t the only school district dealing with rumors and threats of violence.
The school district is anxiously waiting for more information from police about the person or people responsible for sending out a threat via Snapchat. Students who survived the school shooting, meanwhile, are calling for gun control.
Another parent, Anna Flores, said she got texts from her son just after 9 a.m.
Additionally, staff at Ramona High School reported a possible security problem at the North County campus.
“In my classroom, they were [scared]”, Harms said. “The investigation also revealed the photograph shown on social media sites was taken from a posting a year prior, altered and manipulated”.
“None of us take this job lightly”, Craven said. “We are holding school today”.
The student has been turned over to the Bradford County Juvenile Probation Department and is behind held in a juvenile detention center.
