March 30 23:01 2018

The board on Wednesday had announced to conduct a re-examination for class 10 mathematics and class 12 economics paper.

While announcing the re-exams, the CBSE had also said that it will declare the dates of the re-exams within a week.

Union Education Secretary Anil Swarup in a press meet held in Delhi announced the date.

More than 28 lakh students have been affected by CBSE decision on Wednesday to re-conduct examination for two papers of Class X and XII.

The board move comes after a handwritten note with the same questions as the CBSE question papers was found circulating on social media message application days before the exams in these papers were conducted. The board conducts the Class 10 and Class 12 exams of schools affiliated to the CBSE.

As per the reports, it is stated that this year leaking of the papers is done through online platforms.

A Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) student from Cochin on Friday approached the Supreme Court against the re-examination of Class X Maths paper. CBSE chairman Anita Karwal has said that we have taken this decision in favor of the students.

The two-day final of the Hackathon is being held at 28 nodal centres across the country. No nation wide retest for class10 mathematics paper barring Delhi, NCR and Haryana, that too if needed.

Political parties got into the act as well, with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray asking students and parents to “boycott the re-examinations” and the Biju Janata Dal’s student wing calling for Javadekar’s resignation.

Even so, Class 10 students may have to wait till July before they sit for the retest, which the education secretary predicated with an “if at all”.

Addressing students at an event marked to launch the finale of the Smart India Hackathon 2018 (Software Edition), he said, “I am facing one problem in the country”. After questioning more than 30 people in Delhi, police have now detained at least six students and a coaching center owner in Chatra, Jharkhand. The CBSE has also written a letter to Google in this regard.
