Nicondra: Rain increasing through evening with storms on the way

March 30 23:01 2018

Snow totals will drastically taper off farther to the south. The risk for thunderstorms into Thursday afternoon and evening. Even though we do match it on Saturday, there seems to be something wrong on most of the days. Any showers will fall as rain in England, but these should ease in the south during the afternoon. Winds will be breezy at times. Then on Monday, some wintry showers could be heading towards the county. It will produce a good chance of light snow in the north where the snow might cover the ground in a few spots. The wind-chill factor also expected to make things feel bitterly cold.

Heavier rain Thursday into Thursday night.

We think we can all unanimously say that we’re kinda DONE with the bad weather, yeah?

As soon as we get rid of one system, another system arrives into Easter night.

It’s looking like we’ll be able to stay dry during the day Sunday but it will be a chilly Easter with highs only near 40 degrees. Roanoke has only had as much as an inch five times in 106 years of official weather data (the record of 7.3 inches is from April 6-7, 1971).

Winds will be gentle to moderate north-westerlies. Maximum Temperature 9 °C.

Saturday: Cloudy for most with outbreaks of rain and perhaps sleet over the hills. Overnight lows will be in the upper 20s and low to mid 30s.

Temps moderate a bit for Easter, with just a brief chance of snow showers to kick the holiday off.

Monday is expected to be cloudy and very wet.

James Madden, forecaster for ExactaWeather, said the “significant snow event” will mainly affect the northern half of the country. Combine that sunshine with seasonably mild highs in the mid to upper 50s on Saturday and we’ll end a cold and stormy March on a “lamb-like” note.
