Rain/Snow Mix on Sunday Then Spring Returns

April 11 23:00 2018

Andrew Kalin, an NWS meteorologist, said the snowfall isn’t unusual for this time of year.

No matter what happens, it turns very chilly for Sunday with one of the coldest April 15ths on record for high temperatures.

A warm front could bring a shower or two Thursday followed by a big warm-up.

More sunshine is in the mix Thursday with temperatures nearing 80 for the afternoon.

Clouds wipe away tonight sending temperatures down.

Overnight lows will drop into the lower 50’s, right around normal, along with southerly winds.

Friday will be partly sunny with a high around 66, and Saturday will be mostly sunny, around 73 degrees, the service said. It will finally start feeling more like Spring as we start warming up to the upper 50s by Tuesday to upper 60s on Wednesday.

Today will also be quite windy with winds sustained from the southwest at 10 – 20 miles per hour. Wind will be breezy to gusty both Thursday and Friday, especially in the afternoons. It’s likely we’ll see some winds gusting as high as 25 miles per hour into the night. Friday we will have times of clouds and sunshine.

Friday will showcase decreasing precipitation with highs in the mid to upper 40s. The nights will be comfy cool while daytime highs make it into the 70s each day. Overall it will be the better day out of the weekend.

Changes to the forecast will arrive Saturday ahead of a strong cold front. More widespread light rain enters the picture, with a few moderate downpours overnight. For next week, Monday through Sunday, the Climate Prediction Center was looking at a tilt, on average, back toward below normal temperatures.

Other than some cloud cover at the start of the day, Wednesday will be fairly similar to Tuesday.

Thursday: A mainly clear sky is expected to continue as high pressure remains in control. Those will pick up in intensity Monday and Tuesday with highs dropping back into the 40s & 50s. This cold front will usher in slightly cooler temperatures for your Monday. Mostly cloudy with scattered valley rain and mountain tonight into Wednesday morning. Expect clouds, a little sun and a few showers, but it does not look to be a washout. Highs will climb into the mid-50s.
