School district arms teachers with mini-baseball bats in wake of shootings

On Monday, Sidney High School hosted a program created to help students see that their fellow students are not as different as they might believe, and that some of the “strangers” in the hallway might be future friends.

“We need the public education system to be fully funded”, DeWeese said. Although she said she may have considered her wording more carefully had she known the post would have such a large audience, she said she’s glad her words contributed to a larger discussion.

“I left work early today after an incident with a parent left me unable emotionally to continue for the day”, Marburger wrote. But teachers say, after a decade of deep cuts, it’s not enough.

She finished her final lap Tuesday morning.

At the time, police said the two students had some of the same friends, but said there was no indication both of them were together or the disappearances were related.

“I don’t want teachers going to other states”, she said.

“Belonging happens – or not – in the nooks and crannies of democracy, from the big stuff like how district lines are drawn to the little stuff, the minutiae of how local government policy functions”, she said. She said she would prefer to see solutions that prevent a school shooting, instead of situations to stop an active shooter.

Hennegan started her education career in 2005, as a fifth-grade teacher at Charles Reed Elementary School, serving there for seven years, including four months as the interim assistant principal in 2012, the release stated. “I use the comments box at the bottom, but there’s a lot to cover”, she said. District officials said the student was punished for failing to go to the right place for students choosing not to participate, but the boy’s father said, “He was uncomfortable…as he thought that going outside would most likely be politicizing a horrific event which he wanted no part of”. “The teachers are awesome”.

“I have never heard of a profession where people put so much of their heart and soul into their job, taking time and resources from their home and family, and getting paid such an insultingly measly amount”, she said. “Direct contact is more personal if you have an issue concerning your child”.

¯ Now in its eighth year.

¯ One of three surveys done every year, along with student and staff surveys.

And according to Mr. Thorne, we can learn from everyone we encounter, if we first believe in the value of their lesson, then are open to receive it. Think about your own momma.
