The Arsenal manager revealed on Friday that he will be stepping down at the end of the season after 22 years in charge of the club.
The question is, did he jump or he was he pushed?
When pressed on whether he regretted some of his comments about Wenger, he replied: “It’s not about regretting“.
Allegri has won three consecutive Scudetto’s since taking over as manager of the Turin club and has qualified for two Champions League finals in three years.
And their only hope of making the Champions League next season is emerging winners of the Europa League.
Who should replace Wenger? He has taken charge of a record 823 games during his time with the club, winning more than half of them.
Arsenal legend Bob Wilson broke down in tears on the BBC’s Radio 5 Live show as he explained how Wenger had helped his family out during a time when his now deceased daughter suffered from a rare form of cancer in 1998.
Majority shareholder Dermot Desmond has already said that he would not stand in Rodgers’ way if the Gunners did come calling and Charlie Nicholas has also said that the 45-year-old has been “breathtakingly good” at Celtic Park and would fit in at the North London club.
He may lack experience at the highest level of the club game, with Fenerbahce and Stuttgart the most notable names on his CV, but the 58-year-old is rightly regarded as one of the game’s top coaches. But he strikes me as someone who has had a lot of control over that football club for a long, long time and it feels like it needs a change.
I want to thank the staff, the players, the Directors and the fans who make this club so special.
“Arsene Wenger gave his all to @Arsenal with the (limited) resources available to him”.
It is preserving those very values that have split the fan base down the middle. Enrique won nine throphies during three years at FC Barcelona and many Arsenal fans believe the 47-year-old would be ideal to lead Arsenal into the next season. While Pep Guardiola clinched his first trophy with the Citizens in style with a resounding 3-0 triumph, Wenger once again faced questions over his Arsenal future after failing to secure the one domestic honour that eluded him.
Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke said it was “one of the most hard days we have ever had in all our years in sport”.
Manchester United let Ferguson get involved in who should be his successor when they appointed David Moyes but I don’t think it should be anything to do with Arsene Wenger who comes in next.
Speaking to reporters in his press conference and in his MUTV interview, the manager reacted to the news of Arsene Wenger’s departure from Arsenal at the end of the season, and shed light on tomorrow’s opposition, the importance of the United faithful and preparations for the big game.
