The April 2018 Update for Windows 10 includes features like Timeline, dictation, improvements to the Edge browser, and a refreshed Xbox app.
Microsoft has finally launched its Windows 10 April Update to customers across the globe.
The company confirmed that Windows 10 April 2018 will be available for manual download from official website starting from April 30 and the Over-The-Air (OTA) will be available from the same day, but the roll-out will be carried out in phases across the world. With distractions aplenty, the attention span of individuals has been gradually weaning, and Microsoft hopes that with Focus Assist, users can set a particular period of time for work and get things done without distractions. Heck, you can get a really good 27-inch 4K monitor on Amazon these days for just over $200!
Availability for Organizations The Windows 10 April 2018 Update is now available via the Windows Server Update Services solution, which is for organizations needing control over the delivery of updates.
If you want to use the Windows Disk Image Burner to create an installation DVD, go to the location where the ISO file is saved. It also tweaks the Fluent Design system that was introduced alongside the Fall Creators Update, so users will notice new effects on certain prompts and gestures. In December 2017, Microsoft had unveiled the first batch of devices from OEMs like HP, Lenovo, and Asus running Windows 10 on Snapdragon 835 chips.
The biggest and most obvious change is the addition of a timeline feature to the task view. The feature is focused on helping users deal with the problem of having files and web activities spread across numerous devices – and spending time searching for documents they were working on, or restarting web searches when changing devices.
This means that millions of users might not get the new update for weeks, if not months.
Microsoft Edge will also save address, payment and other information securely.
Users can turn on Focus Assist whenever they want some peace from social media or other notifications. Pressing the launcher for this feature pops up a list of previous activities so you can easily go back into something you were just working on, or, if it was a while ago, there’s a search feature for Timeline as well.
Indeed, no Windows update would be complete without any upgrades to Microsoft’s virtual assistant, Cortana.
Of course if you’re an early adopter that’s not the case, because the Windows 10 April 2018 Update isn’t yet available as an automatic update. Without a printer, scanner, external drive or what have you attached to your PC, the update can proceed without going out and trying to locate updated drivers for these devices.
