Google’s virtual assistant can book appointments

The same will be made available at the earliest as early as day one on the upcoming Android P smartphone.

Following Google’s announcement about its latest Android update, called Android P, various OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) are also announcing their handsets that are going to support the Beta version of Android P that is already rolling out.

The San Diego-based wireless pioneer said its Snapdragon 845, 660 and 636 platforms are now optimized for Android P. The platforms are typically used to power smartphones and tablets.

Google said a beta version of its latest Android software will be available for download starting Wednesday, with deeper artificial intelligence integration and navigation gestures that are similar to the iPhone X. “Through our strengthened relationship, Google and Qualcomm Technologies are set to expand the market for Android”.

One of the biggest new features that Android P Beta (aka Android P DP2) brings is Adaptive Battery, created to give users a more consistent battery experience.

OnePlus has announced that Android P beta will be coming to it next flagship – OnePlus 6.

Parents also gain the ability to schedule when internet connectivity should be paused to some or all of the devices being used in a home.

The Assistant is now also able to have a back-and-forth conversation without users having to repeat the “Hey, Google” wake phrase before each command, and will also be able to make multiple requests at once for the first time.

Google has not given any date on when the Google Assistant will get this feature for making actual calls. This could be useful to include when trying to notify a user that their payment method failed, or to encourage them to renew their subscription because new content has been added, among other things.

It’s been a couple of years since Android TV has come out and it’s been slowly maturing as a platform.

On its Google Maps app, the company is introducing an augmented reality feature to help guide people to their destination.

Another new Google Assistant feature known as “pretty please” aims to foster good manners in young children by encouraging them to use phrases such as “please” when asking for assistance.

Google Photos can now colorise black and white photos, convert documents pictures into PDFs and more.

AI’s progress in understanding the physical world has dramatically improved Google Maps and created new applications like Google Lens. Apps and services developed by Google and Volvo Cars are embedded in the vehicle, plus thousands ofadditional apps are available through the Google Play Store that isoptimised and adapted for Android-based auto infotainment systems. The new Do Not Disturb mode silences not just the phone calls and notifications, but also all the visual interruptions that pop up on your screen. The redesigned Google News, in fact, combines bits and pieces from Google’s digital magazine app, Newsstand, as well as YouTube, bringing in new features like newscasts and full coverage.
