Had the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) not opted to go with Holly Holm as the next challenger to Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, Miesha Tate was the looming choice. However, MMA fighter Julie Kedzie debunked the theory, saying she often has yellow color on her feet even if she does not use steroids. Thursday she sat with Larry King and talked about the fight and revealed what she said to Rousey after the bout ended.
What casual fans are probably unaware of is that Holm herself experienced a brutal knockout loss in 2011 as a professional boxer.
But what we haven’t seen is how each fighter’s family and friends reacted.
Holm said, if the UFC schedules a rematch with Rousey, she would “train twice as hard to be as dominant” to defeat the fighter once more. Yeah, I don’t think that I handled that the best but at the same time it was this sweeping, overwhelming sense of emotion and it just kind of got the best of me.
You can listen to the entire interview with Holm and Rome below. I think she would like to get a fight in there, too. Though she has confirmed that she will indeed return after her mandatory medically suspension by doctors has expired, many people doubt the return as well as a few believing that Rousey will be the shadow of her former self for the rest of her days in MMA.
Rousey arrived back in Los Angeles earlier this week, making her first public appearance stateside since the historic fight. I just want to really take whatever they say, so if I have a different fight, great.
“A guy or girl is going to take a break or go away, or has an injury that they have to tend to, whatever the reasons are, and they’re a champion – you take the championship off of them”, Taz said on his podcast last week.
