The Green Bay Packers are hosting the Chicago Bears tonight in NFL Football action on Thanksgiving. But, more importantly, the Packers defense needs to be on point. Aaron Rodgers is getting back to form and much like his dominance over the Vikings, he’s led the Packers to a 10-0 record against the Bears when he wasn’t getting injured early in one of those games.
Ally Aitken of Glasgow, Scotland, is the quarterback of his flag football team, the Dunbeth Dragons, and dreams of one day traveling to Green Bay to experience a game “in the best stadium in sports”. Coordinator Vic Fangio’s unit has excelled at adjusting, going seven consecutive games without giving up a third-quarter touchdown. It appears that Forte will return from his injury this week and will take the starting job back.
He beat the Bears with running, scrambling and diving plays in a Soldier Field monsoon on Halloween night in 1994.
While there are obviously other factors in play for this game (Jay Cutler’s inability to find success in this rivalry for example), the run game will certainly be a focal point. Head coach John Fox will get Forte plenty of opportunities on Thursday, but running back Jeremy Langford has proven himself a viable option the past couple weeks.
But with the introduction of the NFL Network and the league’s aggressive push to deliver its product well beyond Sunday, Thursday night games have become a regular part of every team’s schedule. The Bears are also big when it comes to their pass rushing, with their 3-4 scheme, a first in Bears history, still not rid of the previous defensive ends, although some of them have adjusted.
The Bears already proved this season that they have closed the gap on the Packers.
– Bears players are not thinking about their recent losses to the Packers. That’s partly because lead receiver Alshon Jeffery has been saddled by leg injuries all season. “It’s time that the Bears stop going up there and losing games like that because if it gets out of hand, it’s embarrassing”.
The confluence of Thanksgiving travelers, hunters and Packers fans is expected to clog Wisconsin roads on Thursday.
This is the second matchup of these rivals, with the first coming on opening weekend.
“I came to Nauset High School to not only help build a football program, but to teach these young men some of life’s lessons”, said Sherman. The night after his father, Irvin, died of a sudden heart attack, Favre threw for 399 yards and four touchdowns in a 41-7 victory over the Raiders, completing his first nine passes after earning a hearty ovation during pregame introductions.
