The next iteration in the MLB The Show series was announced today at PlayStation Experience keynote.
MLB The Show 16 will be available exclusively for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Then again, The Show is usually the only baseball game worth getting. Curiously, the PS Vita will not have a version of the game this year.
On top of the new feature, “MLB 16: The Show” will also be introducing an updated Road to the Show gameplay mode.
The new feature, known as ShowTime, will allow players to basically slow down time during critical moments in a game, thus putting them in a better position to make spectacular plays both with the bat and the glove, according to a post on the official PlayStation blog coming courtesy of the game’s developer SCEA San Diego. The game includes diving plays. You can also expect a more streamlined Road To the Show experience, as a new paradigm for base-running and fielding opportunities will maximize the time you spend in situations that matter. With more than $135 in value, the MVP edition is a must have for the dedicated fan of The Show.
Major League Baseball’s free agency period is in full swing, but Sony has confirmed that the MLB The Show series will be staying put in 2016. The MVP Edition will cost you $69.99 and will come with a limited edition steel book, 31 MLB themed avatars, 5,000 stubs and 12 MLB Diamond Dynasty packs. Microsoft has tried to combat this in year’s past with releases of RBI baseball to little success.
For our Hardcore Diamond Dynasty and Road To The Show fans, we created a digital edition exclusive to PlayStation Store! Each of those games are available on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 too.
