Saturday will be partly cloudy and cold with high temperatures struggling to get to 40° during the afternoon. The next front arrives Friday night/Saturday, providing a chance for rain and storms. Scattered showers roll through tomorrow with mostly cloudy skies and a high in the low 60s. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
For our northern tier, it’s possible to see some sleet or wet snowflakes overnight Friday into Saturday as very cold air sweeps into the area. After sunshine on Sunday, rain and snow will return after 2am Sunday night and continue until around 9am Monday morning.
Storms are moving into the Pacific Northwest again on Sunday morning. Predicting how much snow Fargo-Moorhead will receive is tricky because it’s on the fringe of the system coming through Sunday.
“At this point a year ago, there was much more spring going on”, he said, adding that temperatures continue rising a degree or so each day. Frigid temperatures in the 20s and 30s for a prolonged period of time will be an issue to vegetation. Wind speeds peaked at 124 mph, and one tornado stretched across 18 miles.
Saturday Afternoon: It’ll stay breezy and cooler through the day on Saturday with a fair number of clouds around through mid-day.
The westerly swell will build to 8 to 10 feet, with a 13- to 15-second period, on Sunday morning. Expect clouds, a little sun and a few showers, but it does not look to be a washout.
TEMPS SLOWLY WARM: After another high in the 40s Tuesday. temperatures rise to the low-50s for Tuesday and Wednesday. Locally, an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain is likely through Monday.
Looking ahead, temperatures for the week ahead are expected to remain below or at normal, Avery said.
