Aaron Sorkin Wins Best Screenplay Golden Globe Award for ‘Steve Jobs’

January 12 20:00 2016

The new Steve Jobs film has been remembered more for its poor box office performance in the months since its wide release than for the quality of the film, and Aaron Sorkin briefly remarked on the topic while backstage at the Golden Globes. If you’re at all interested in the art of acting or just hearing a group of incredibly talented performers shoot the shit, this is a must watch.

The Golden Globes opened on Sunday with some sharp jokes from Ricky Gervais and a win for Kate Winslet, as Hollywood’s biggest stars turned out for the first major awards show of the season. “But I think I’m going to have to cancel”.

After thanking a number of people Winslet gave a shout-out to her husband, Ned Rocknroll, who she called “my everything” and said he makes it “all possible”. “I’ve had an unbelievable few years”, said the actor, “I think there are unbelievable scripts out there – I can only speak to that of my own experience”.

Other films vying for the best drama film prize are lesbian romance Carol starring Cate Blanchett, epic survival thriller The Revenant with Leonardo DiCaprio, the harrowing kidnap tale Room, and the summer blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road. “All 17 GoldDerby experts have him unanimously out front to win”.

The Oscar nominations are upon us, and there’s another roundtable discussion with some of this year’s biggest contenders to help bide the time until Thursday’s big announcement. Pixar’s Inside Out won Disney the award for best animated motion picture.
