The re-released mini version of the beloved 1985 game console pre-loaded with 30 classic games became available at several retail stores for $59.99 this morning.

“The classic NES is back in a familiar-yet-new form as a mini replica of Nintendo’s original home console”, Nintendo wrote on its official website. If you miss out today and don’t want to empty your bank account, your best bet is to stay tuned for official availability announcements from places like Amazon, Best Buy and Nintendo itself. Anyone who can’t secure one here probably won’t get an NES Classic until later down the road. On that note, Toys R Us did sell the NES Classic online for MSRP, and it is completely sold out. Naturally, then, it turns out that Nintendo may not have made enough of them to sell to everyone that would like to purchase one. Amazon has also reportedly told customers that they will have very limited quantities, so you’ll want to hurry. They urge everyone to have their credit card and billing address information up to date so that the process can be completed in a quick fashion.

If you haven’t bought Nintendo’s NES Classic yet, you could be out of luck – at least for a while.

Angela said while she was “one of the lucky ones”, others went to the next level to buy one. The company has refrained from preorders altogether leading up to launch, so it’s all first-come, first-served – and there are no midnight openings.

“If you miss sitting on the floor in front of a TV watching extra lives flake away in games like Mega Man 2 and Castlevania, for better or worse, Nintendo’s got you covered”. And online at some point, too.

Nintendo has also confirmed that the games will be playable in three screen modes. It will be available in-store on 11/11. The game console though had a little amount of negative comments, such as “it only comes with one controller”, “the cords are short” and “you can’t get new games”.

Instead, the mini NES works like modern consoles do – over HDMI.
