Adele has proven herself to be the good sport we’ve always assumed in the latest carpool karaoke segment on James Corden’s United States chat show. The two of them sing along to a few of her classic tracks, with Adele staring out the window at the rain.
Another hilariously impressive part of the segment came with Corden offered to be Adele’s hypeman and ended up giving Flavor Flav a run for his money.
After belting out some old favorites (remember “Someone Like You?“) she proceeds to show fans that she can in fact, rap, as she covers Nicki Minaj’s verse in Kanye West’s “Monster“.
“I went over, a bit drunk, (and said) ‘Did you call my name earlier?'”, Adele said. James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” series has been one of the indisputable delights of late night TV. Corden, as anyone who has followed his career or just watched Into The Woods knows, is an accomplished singer and he has no trouble at all playing back up to Adele. Let me get your meal for you!’ So, I paid for their meal. “I downed it”, she said. “I was wondering if after all these years you’d like to meet?” Not only that, but she promised another family from Nashville tickets to her sold-out show in the Tennessee city.
After singing Adele’s “All I Ask”, Corden suggested she assemble an A-list posse.
Adele also revealed that 25 was the last age album she would produce. “One of the reasons I named my albums after my age…is they’re Polaroids of my life at the time”, she said.
The pair also discussed the possibility of the “Rolling In the Deep” songtress starting her own squad to rival Taylor Swift‘s.
After this video released, Nicki took to Twitter to share her thoughts on Adele’s rapping, writing, “Adele is mad ratchet”.
