All-22: Rhodes’ return key to stopping Panthers passing attack

The city has declared the Sunday afternoon game between the Charlotte Panthers and Minnesota Vikings an extraordinary event.

A weekend without street violence was highlighted with the city hosting the National Football League game between the Carolina Panthers and the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

The Vikings put the clamps on Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, intercepting the reigning league MVP three times and getting eight sacks, one resulting in a safety by defensive end Danielle Hunter. The Vikings defense has been stellar, sacking Cam Newton eight times in Week 3. He got former Heisman victor Marcus Mariota of Tennessee in the first game, two-time MVP Aaron Rodgers of Green Bay in the second and on Sunday sacked Carolina’s Cam Newton, who has MVP and Heisman trophies. “He said he’s so invested in this team that he had to go get a workout in to get some stress relief”.

Mike Zimmer has reached 3-0 while losing his franchise quarterback, a Hall of Fame running back and his starting left tackle.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started what has become a controversy when he began the gesture against injustice and police brutality by refusing to stand for The Star-Spangled Banner during pre-season games.

The Vikings have allowed just 43 combined points in three games against the Titans, Packers and Panthers. Carolina’s top receiver Kelvin Benjamin didn’t catch a single pass. “And if I’m speaking for it, that won’t happen again”. Just another day for the guy we keep expecting to get cut every year. In turn this has caused Newton to have to hold onto the ball longer, and his offensive line hasn’t been able to protect him enough.

“We had some really good things that went on, some really good plays”.

“What we know and what you should know about him is that he was an American citizen who deserved better”, he added.

The Panthers were penalized 10 times on Sunday, including a Kelvin Benjamin block in the back that brought back a 56-yard Fozzy Whittaker touchdown.

Bradford completed 18 of 28 passes for 171 yards and one touchdown. With Peterson injured, Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon combined for 70 yards rushing on 22 carries.

The only player on either team spotted making a silent statement was Panthers backup safety Marcus Ball, who stood with his right arm raised and index finger extended. Baltimore blocked the try to regain possession and capitalized on an opportunity to deal Jacksonville its second heartbreaking loss at home already this season.

“If you want to be a playoff team you have to win at home”, Panthers offensive tackle Michael Oher said.

You can imagine it is more hard when the receiver doesn’t know what’s coming from his counterpart.

“I’m going to say they’re No. 1”, he said. Here are a few things we learned after week three. “We’ve got to hone in and focus in and be better”.

The Vikings were one of the most run-oriented team in the NFL a year ago, and Peterson led the league in rushing.

“He kicked me and threaten to kill us last night with his gun”, she said in the order filed in Gaston County, where the couple then lived.

Looking back at this game, there are a number of areas of concern for the Panthers.

As for Newton, he was forced to leave Sunday’s loss to the Vikings for one play with what appeared to be an ankle injury. Entering Sunday’s game averaging a league-worst 38.6 yards per punt, Locke averaged 48.4 yards per on his seven punts, including a season-best 62-yarder in the first quarter.
