Amazon Echo Spot, Echo Plus, Echo Connect and Echo Buttons Announced

Amazon.com, Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) has had a very busy 24 hours.

E-commerce and technology giant Amazon unveiled a number of Echo products upgradations and the new Fire TV at its hardware event on Wednesday.

AMZN stock got a small bump today as word spread of the big event. Echo can also play audiobooks, radio stations, news briefs, and more.

Customers who wish to purchase the original, taller Echo can still do so. Talking about the new Amazon Echo, it is the successor to the original Echo debuted in 2014. That cloth cover can be replaced a la Google Home, with six options to choose from including natural wood veneer. It has the same 360-degree sound as original Echo but now supports Dolby sound. A next-generation far-field microphone should improve Alexa voice interactions.

Since this is punted as a bedside device it’ll be nice to see data like weather and calendar laid out without having it read out to you first thing in the morning.

Amazon Echo second generation (2017) costs $99. But, more likely, some new Echos will drive use cases that become way more popular than others, helping Amazon to focus more on fewer variations over the long-term. It’s now available for pre-order, and will ship on October 31.

The Echo Connect is compatible with the Echo (1st Gen.), Echo (2nd Gen.), Echo Dot (1st Gen.), Echo Dot (2nd Gen.), Echo Show, Echo Spot, and Echo Plus. For some regions where the new products aren’t available, the current model of the Echo, in addition to the Echo Dot, should be available. It will cost $69 and supports 4k and HDR formats. Echo Plus will be bundled with the smart light, price of Echo Plus is $149,99. It will ship next month and buyers will get a free Philips Hue bulb. You connect it to your Wi-Fi network and phone jack or VoIP adapter, and set up the device through the Alexa app.

Amazon just ramped up its smarthome game-and Echo product line-with new Echo and Echo Plus smart speakers, and the Echo Spot. The Echo Spot comes with a camera through which one can make video calls and it can be also used to control smart products in one’s home with the help of Alexa.
