“American Idol”‘s Emily Brooke of Wellington: “It’s really crazy”

January 21 20:03 2016

MacKenzie Bourg impress Harry, JLo and Keith with his incredible medley performance on Wednesday’s episode of American Idol, January 20, 2015. We know that partially because American Idol told us that, but if you’re into context clues and subtle innuendo, you’d pick up on that because of the clock ticking in this episode’s opening. The Hollywood round will soon follow, and fans are definitely looking forward to see her perform next week.

Of all the “Idol” returners this season, tireless teen Emily Brooke could be the most formidable contender.

Additional highlights include previous “Idol” winners Nick Fradiani, Taylor Hicks, Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken, Kris Allen and Lee DeWyze will join the show in the search for talent. “You got so much better”, Lopez instantly said when Brooke finished singing. “I like you better than past year”. Lopez said she really seemed like a true performer. The performance earned Scott a trip to Hollywood.

On the other hand, the two memorable contestants who auditioned last night, but failed, were brothers Andrew and Aaron Birdwell. They were quickly rejected. She played piano and sang Eric Paslay’s “She Don’t Love You” sweetly. All three judges said yes.

HollywoodLifers, what did you think of this round of auditions? Take for instance Mario Bonds, an enthusiastic blind musician, whom I actually remember from The Glee Project. It’s not often we get to hear Harry Connick Jr. covers on the show, but we’re certainly glad that there is one here. The judges all said no to Bond, and he did not advance.

Amelia Eisenhauer, a fiddle-playing 15-year-old from Nashville whose rendition of “Many Rivers to Cross” by Annie Lennox, although not perfectly on pitch, pleased the judges with its strength. She made mention of wanting to rock forever, like Led Zeppelin, and with chops like these, she’s on her way. Connick pointed out that she has a mysterious vibe.

Jenna Renae also stands out from this episode. “You have to perform (something from) this cleared list of songs, and… they don’t give you that many choices to choose from”.

“You have to wake up at 5 a.m., and then you think you’re going to go sing…” She had made it all the way to The Final Judgement in Season 14, but the judges agreed she just wasn’t ready yet and they hoped she’d come back. In the pop-country lane, Emily could be a real player.
