Amy Poehler returns to Saturday Night Live as Hillary Clinton’s Ghost

December 24 12:30 2015

2008 Hillary was definitely astonished to hear about the Republican competition for the presidency, just before she was upstaged by another cloud of smoke that carried Tina Fey’s incomparable Sarah Palin impression.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler returned to Saturday Night Live this weekend, and monstered their old stomping ground with hilarious abandon in a huge show that also included appearances from Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney. McKinnon’s 2015 Clinton was joined by Poehler’s 2008 version of the then-senator and presidential candidate Clinton.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the programme and used their monologue to give subtle nods to their new movie, ‘Sisters, ‘ and sing a amusing tune about Christmas that showed off their light and dark sides.

Before leaving to let Clinton get back to sleep, Poehler’s character said she needs to “get back to 2008 and send a bunch of emails”, prompting McKinnon to spring into action and break her Blackberry.

The besties took the stage at the show’s 30 Rock location last night and brought down the house, not once but multiple times. “The opening sketch parodied the last GOP debate, with Trump played SNL” alum Darrell Hammond.

Fey and Poehler may not have won at the box office, but they did produce strong ratings, boosting “SNL” to its second-best metered-market household rating in nearly two years. Then one very special surprise guest popped in for a croon: Paul McCartney! But that wasn’t the only Christmas gift Palin came with.
