While fans of South Korea-based Samsung are eagerly waiting for the release of the Galaxy S7, it seems that the tech manufacturer still has some surprises up its sleeve. The design of the phone may be mostly hidden, but that distinctive Samsung look is there, as are those capacitive buttons again.
Leaked renders of the Galaxy S7 previously revealed the smartphone will use microUSB rather than USB-Type C for syncing and fast-charging.
But a leaked document from MobiPicker has shown that the two top devices won’t be getting the 6.0 version of Android until February while the other two aforementioned models would be next in line at the end of February or sometime in March. Among those is a Galaxy S5 owner in France who somehow managed to get an Android Marshmallow update which included this month’s Android security update.
According to Samsung, the January security update should fix 7 vulnerabilities discovered by Google in the last couple of weeks.
Someone in France, this time, has received the Android 6.0.1 update OTA on their Galaxy S5 phone, which carries a model number of SM-G900F. A 5.2-inch phone, the Galaxy A5 (2016) is shockingly well made: sturdy metal frame, handsome glazed glass (Gorilla Glass 4 at that) on the back and front (with pleasingly rounded edges), very compact size with minimal side bezels, all features we’re used to seeing in more expensive phones.
These useful snippets slide-in from the curved display, while the remaining screen real estate blurs.
This is commonly the case with major Android updates, especially when it comes to carrier-branded variants which are sometimes limited in the updates they can receive by the carriers themselves. Will we be seeing the Samsung Galaxy S7 at the MWC in February?
