APNewsBreak: Lady Gaga to sing national anthem at Super Bowl

February 02 20:01 2016

E! News can confirm the “Just Dance” singer is set to deliver the National Anthem at the Super Bowl this coming Sunday. The British band will be joined on stage by Beyonce.

While it doesn’t garner as much attention as the halftime show, some of the best and most influential singers in history have performed the national anthem prior to the Super Bowl.

On Sunday, Lady Gaga will take the field at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., before the 6:30 p.m. kickoff between the Carolina Panthers take on the Denver Broncos.

In related news, Gaga (fresh from her Golden Globes win for American Horror Story) is set to do a tribute for the late David Bowie at the Grammys on February 15.

The game airs on CBS and will include hours (and hours) of pre-game programming.

Lady Gaga was born for this performance!

Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin will perform in American Sign Language during the anthem, according to the report.

Bowie, who lived in NY but enjoyed more commercial success in Britain and other European countries, was also presented a Grammy lifetime achievement award in 2006.

Gaga follows Frozen star Idina Menzel, who sang at last year’s Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. This marks Gaga’s first-ever Super Bowl performance-but hopefully not her last.
