Gardaí are investigating the origins of a threatening message posted to the garda website which resulted in the evacuation of 4,500 Apple employees in Cork.
The alarm was raised at around 10.30am this morning at the technology company’s facility in Hollyhill in the city.
Cork 96FM reports that each of the three facilities – Hollyhill, Lavitt’s Quay and Model Farm Road – were checked.
The Irish Indepedent reports that a search was completed and employees were allowed to return to work.
The Irish police force, known as the Garda, confirmed that officers were searching a premises in Holyhill, Cork, following a security alert.
Employees are now returning to work, after the premises have been given the all clear. It’s believed that the threats have only affected one plant, but the police made a decision to evacuate all buildings as a precaution.
Apple has not released an official comment on the matter yet.
