Miller played four guards against UCLA when it went small Saturday, and No. 11 OR also can go small on occasion.

With 2 minutes 34 seconds remaining, the Bruins trailed by only six points when Ball blocked a shot by Allonzo Trier. The Wildcats’ last loss was to some school named Gonzaga, which remains the only undefeated team in college basketball. Darryl Reynolds swept 10 rebounds for Villanova.

Josh Okogie led the Yellow Jackets (11-8, 3-4) with 14 points.

Kamar Baldwin added 18 points and Kelan Martin had 12 for the Bulldogs (17-3, 6-2 Big East). It was the third consecutive loss for the Friars.

Arizona also sprang Allonzo Trier, who had sat all season after testing positive for PED use. Friday, the Wildcats got word he was cleared to play, and Trier came out guns a blazing, scoring 12 with seven rebounds and four assists.

Guard Dwayne Bacon leads Florida State with an average of 17.1 points per game. Of the 15 made shots, only six were assisted on. Well, Arizona didn’t give.

The NCAA had granted him the chance to travel with the team until that happened. “He hasn’t played a game since what, last March or something?” The Wildcats are tied for first in the conference with a 6-0 record largely due to their shutdown defense, while UCLA is a half-game back at 6-1 thanks to one of the nation’s most unsafe offensive groups.

Jordan Bell and Tyler Dorsey each had 11 points for OR, which overcame 19 turnovers by shooting 11-of-25 from 3-point range and outrebounding Stanford 40-29.

The Wildcats won their 12th in a row, putting up 21 more points than they average. Baldwin also had a 3 point field goal in overtime and closed with 18 points. But he shrugged and scored a dozen points with a calm that his team found infectious.

Arizona outrebounded UCLA 23-15, including a 6-3 edge on the offensive boards. Billy Garrett Jr. had 16 while Tre-Darius McCallum added 15. 1 Kentucky in Lexington never led over the final 26 minutes. Syracuse came to town that night ranked No. 1. Against UCLA, he made 3 of 4 from long-range.

“You gotta guard”, Lonzo Ball said, after the odd experience of losing games in consecutive months. The teams tied five times in the first half and, through the first sixteen and a half minutes of play, neither team led by more than 6 points. The freshman added eight rebounds with a steal and a block on Thursday. Arizona has another 11 games before the Pac-12 Tournament. He dribbled five times, whizzed past five UCLA defenders, and laid in two points.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Marial Shayok scored a career-best 19 points as Virginia used a 22-7 run spanning halftime.

The Wildcats had some success in isolating Alford in man-defense situations, particularly in a few instances when the Bruins senior was guarding Kadeem Allen.

The Bruins have plenty to work on both offensively and defensively, but many of their struggles Saturday can be chalked up to Arizona playing a almost flawless game.

Every time Trier touched the ball Saturday, he heard loud chants of “Ster-oids, ster-oids”. This was the turning point in a game that ended up as a double digit victory over a top ranked team.

Cameron Reynolds led Tulane with 20 points.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Caleb Swanigan had 19 points and 12 rebounds and No. 21 Purdue rolled over Penn State at Mackey Arena. The Boilermakers crushed IL 91-68 on Tuesday night. James Blackmon Jr. matched his career high with 33 points and Robert Johnson added 17 to help IN (14-6, 4-3) hold on for an 82-75 victory over Michigan State (12-8, 4-3).

UCLA missed 21 of 31 long shots.
