Arsenal transfers: Riyad Mahrez discusses Leicester future

Leicester City will be top of the Premier League tree over Christmas after a Riyad Mahrez brace helped them to a 3-2 win at Everton. Following the game, Foxes defender Christian Fuchs tweeted a picture of the victorious squad with the caption: “I love this team!”

“For the first time this season they’ll have a changed central defensive duo – not ideal when facing Romelu Lukaku, the only man stopping the table-toppers from also having the top two scorers in the Premier League in their team”.

The Italian says he was lured to the club by their Thai owners’ long-term ambition to reach the Premier League’s top four.

“It is fantastic, I think Saturday showed that when things aren’t going that well we can also dig deep and nick a win”.

“I think the new investment and the new television deal will allow any team to have their own ways and their own reasons to be competitive“. They may not win the league come the end of the season, but they have proved they have what it takes to put up a good challenge for the title.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has denied that his star striker is chasing Jamie Vardy’s Premier League scoring record. In the second half it was much better.

“We will assess him today and tomorrow then make a final decision if he can be involved in the squad against Leicester. He’s not too far away”.

Against Bournemouth, Everton scored what appeared to be a victor in injury time only to concede again, while they failed to press home their first-half dominance against Norwich and paid the price. “As disappointed as we are with the number of points we have dropped in the last few games, we have been very consistent and some of our attacking play has been exceptional”.

“We still don’t want to get carried away, especially with us only being Leicester!”. Anybody who watches us knows this, because to do what we do for two, three matches is okay. We have so many games to go and there is a long road ahead.

“The attitude of the players and the character is really special and what we do on the ball is really exciting, but I agree that if you don’t get three points you can’t be satisfied”. All we can do is concentrate now on Liverpool and what we need to do in training to prepare for that one.
