Arsene Wenger praises Arsenal focus after win over Hull

Arsene Wenger says the Arsenal squad must shoulder the responsibility for their slump in form rather than any individuals. Walcott can still play a big role in the Arsenal squad, but should move aside and gives the likes of Danny Welbeck or Lucas Perez the chance in the starting XI.

At the start of the second half, Arsenal improved with Alex Iwobi firing over from 20 yards and Walcott shooting tamely at the goalkeeper, but they could not find a way of netting a second goal.

Sanchez sealed the three points with a stoppage-time penalty, the 11th conceded by Hull this season – a new joint record for the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers (2006-07).

Alexis Sanchez, not only Arsenal’s stand out performer, but the Chilean forward is also one of the best players in the country.

After an event at which the two were present, and dined together, Wright said, “I get the impression that that’s it”.

“He actually mentioned that he’s coming to the end”. However, Wenger doesn’t take him off when he is playing badly so the chance of not starting him at all are slim to none.

“I felt we were resilient, focused”, he said. Now, Southampton went on to win 4-0 and completely thrash the Black Cats so it’s not quite as if that was a match-changer, but it was another play that the referee would have been hard-pressed to see and a bad goal counted. With a number of clubs in Europe willing to match his wage demand, he might just consider his options at the end of the season.

Lazar Markovic and Omar Niasse in particular looked lively for the Portuguese tactician when they broke swiftly on the counter but on the day it was world class talent that seperated the two sides. “He’s put so much faith into these teams that I think has been misplaced”. “It has been misplaced”.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger jokes that he “is not yet ready to rest” in response to Ian Wright’s recent comments, which suggested that he was close to stepping down. The Gunners now trail the league leaders by 12 points, and are in a tight battle for fourth place with Liverpool and Manchester United.

Arsenal have managed to secure Champions League qualification in each of their past 19 seasons under Wenger, however, the fans seem have become disenchanted with finishing fourth in the league time and again.

Wenger told me he's coming to the end, says former Arsenal striker Wright
