Evacuation orders were still in place for a number of townships in the state’s north, while the city of Rockhampton in Queensland braced for record-level flooding next week, as water moves downstream into the Fitzroy River catchment.

“We were expecting between 100mm-200mm of rain”, Ms Palaszczuk said.

Some people even offered to remove the reptiles for free after the cyclone hit.

When mixed with Queensland’s cyclone and flood crisis, the man’s drunk driving alongside other people’s behaviour was deemed “foolish and stupid” by State Disaster Coodinator Stephan Gollschewski.

Meanwhile in Australia, affected areas still face a critical phase, especially in Queensland’s Logan.

Casey Bently, a 47-year-old mechanic from North Maclean appeared visibly upset as she looked at her house, submerged to the roof. “We put him in an inflatable and we got him out of there…yeah, we all got wet”, she said.

“Do not do anything that is even remotely risky, please protect yourselves and those around you, they are very unsafe conditions”, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian was quoted as saying by the ABC. “While I have also been told that the problem has now been rectified, there are probably hundreds of people who have been denied when they are stressed out and hurting, and it is truly disgraceful”, he said. “Do not cross flooded roads”.

He compared it to Cyclone Oswald, a category 5 storm that hit in 2013 and caused over Aus$1 billion in damage.

“A low pressure system over central-eastern Queensland and a high pressure system over the Tasman Sea are dragging a humid tropical air mass over parts of NSW”, the bureau said.

Blown-away: Queensland’s Airlie Beach was hit hard by tropical cyclone Debbie on Monday night.

In the Hunter Valley, the body of a 64-year-old woman was found submerged in four metres of water on Friday afternoon, the day after her vehicle was swept off a causeway at Gungal, about 170 kilometres north-west of Newcastle.

In the state of New South Wales, authorities made nearly 400 flood rescues and received about 2,000 calls for help since Wednesday night, public broadcaster ABC reported.

Young Kim is one of thousands of residents who has been without power and running water since Cyclone Debbie tore through the town on Tuesday.

Bowen, Mackay and the Whitsunday islands bore the brunt of the cyclone and almost 40 000 homes were waiting to be re-connected on Saturday.

The military and emergency personnel are working to restore essential services such as water and electricity in towns that were in the direct path of Debbie.
