Baby Girl Shot to Death in Her Crib in Compton

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s official says a bullet that killed a 1-year-old girl in her crib at a Compton, California, home was likely meant for her gang-member father.

The girl died in one of the most violent areas of Los Angeles County after a gunman got out of a auto Tuesday evening and fired at least five rounds at a converted garage where the child lived with her parents.

The baby was rushed to the hospital and was later pronounced dead, according to LASD Lt. Marc Lucio. “They shot my baby”.

Baby Autumn was originally reported as being 3 months old.

“It’s sad to see that happen to an innocent kid”, said a high school-age girl who spoke to KTLA but did not give her name. Meanwhile, primary reports suggest that the gunman involved in the killing of Autumn Johnson escaped in a dark-colored sedan and drove towards the south. The infant died later at the hospital, officials said.

An inconsolable man could also be heard yelling, “Someone, take my baby to the hospital”. She was struck in the head as approximately 10 bullets sprayed the garage of her family’s house. Audric Crenshaw, 47, who attended the Bible study, was shocked to hear of Autumn’s death.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500 or to call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).

In 2012, a 15-year-old gang member rode up on a bicycle to a family gathered outside a home in Watts. “I miss my baby, I love my baby.

That history weighed on the minds of those who crowded near the police tape line around Autumn Johnson’s home Tuesday night. Dokins was later convicted of murder and sentenced to 90 years to life in prison.
