Ben & Jerry’s founder gives Sanders an ice cream

Cohen launched the flavour on his own using “Ben’s Best” branding and said it is not an endorsement by Ben & Jerry’s, now a unit of Unilever, the Anglo-Dutch consumer products maker.

Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield are Vermont residents and have been vocal supporters of Sanders’ campaign for president since the beginning of the campaign. “But if I were going to come up with one, this is what it would be”. The mockup carton explains that the disc represents the economic gains that have gone to the wealthiest 1 percent since the recession. However, fans of ice cream and Bernie do have a shot at scoring a pint.

That’s why Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen made a decision to whip up a small batch of ice cream in honor of his favorite presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders.

Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen announced online Monday that people could enter a contest to win a pint of the limited flavor, called “Bernie’s Yearning”. The top of the pint consists of a milk chocolate disc that covers plain mint ice cream.

It’s a not-at-all-subtle hint about what Ben Cohen thinks about Trump’s policies and the current wealth distribution in the US. “Beneath it, the rest of us”, it says.

The Sanders campaign had to supply the ingredients, supplies and services to make Bernie’s Yearning. “Beneath it, the rest of us”, according to the label, which suggests eaters smash up the chocolate and mix it with the ice cream.

There are also specific instructions provided in order to indulge in the treat. First, those who choose to consume the ice cream should take the back of a spoon and whack the huge chocolate discs into lots of pieces.

It has a photo of the smiling politician known for his sometimes unkempt white hair, and underneath it reads: “Open Joyfully, Political Revolution Inside”.
