Bengals OC Hue Jackson is New Head Coach for Cleveland Browns

When he arrived at the team’s facility, Jackson was greeted in the lobby by team employees, who applauded his entrance.

NFL Network’s and Jackson confidante Mike Silver reported the coach felt “comfortable” with the Browns during the interview process.

Dee Haslam is now listed as owner in the Browns media guide and also serves as president of the Cleveland Browns Foundation.

“He embodies all the qualities that will provide strong leadership for our football team”, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said in a statement.

Jackson had his second interview with Haslam on Tuesday in Cincinnati.

The team will introduce Jackson at an evening news conference at their facility in Berea, Ohio.

“What a tremendous honor and privilege to be the head coach of the Cleveland Browns and a part of the Dawg Pound”, Jackson said.

Following his successful development of Andy Dalton with the Bengals, Jackson ought to have considerable influence in deciding who leads Cleveland under center in 2016 and beyond.

I can understand the desire for Hue Jackson to get out of Cincinnati as quickly as possible. No one churns out coaches like the Factory of Sadness.

It’s official. The Cleveland Browns have stopped their head coaching search and Hue Jackson has apparently settled for the first contract put in front of him.

Culture is important in the National Football League, and it appears Jackson has the Browns at long last headed down the proper track in that respect. Since Haslam bought the team in 2012, the Browns have gone through three coaches. He was sacked after one season and returned to Cincinnati.

“You get more than just a coach”. It’s big for the Browns because of who they beat out. Previous reports suggested they would offer Jackson significant say on personnel matters, which likely was the difference between the Browns and 49ers, as well as anything the Giants might have suggested in preliminary discussions. He had reportedly been the “clear front-runner” for the head coaching job with the 49ers and canceled an interview with the Giants that was scheduled Wednesday to take the Browns job. Given where Cleveland roster is – a match and a case of dynamite might be a good place to start the rebuild – it’s hard to believe Jackson will be given enough of a chance to work his magic.

Jackson has had a perch with an AFC North rival from which to view the quarterback’s two-year career, and apparently he’s not a fan of what he saw. They’ll eventually (presumably) add another, if/when they ever hire a new General Manager.

“We’ve got a lot of work to do”, Jackson told the employees working in the facility while it undergoes another renovation, the rest downtown at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Jackson didn’t shy away from Manziel as a topic and didn’t rule him out-at least in public.

Jackson took over the Raiders’ top post in 2011 and went 8-8 in his lone head coaching season before being fired at the end of the year.

Jackson said he is undecided on whether or not he will continue to call the plays on offensive, and did not say if he will keep any of the current coaches, but he is eager to get going on assembling his coaching staff.

Everyone is going to be doing what the Browns are doing is something that no one in the National Football League has said since Paul Brown was walking the sidelines at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. A name to think about is Cal’s Jared Goff. Don’t be surprised to see Jackson raid the Bengals’ staff for his offensive and defensive coordinators.
